Working Together Toward a New Beginning
House Rules
You are on a ZERO status for the first 30 days provided there are no infractions. No outstays for the first 30 days. After 30 days 1 outstay per week. After 60 days 2 outstays per week.
Fees – Upon signing this agreement, each person must pay a recovery administration fee of $200.00. This is a non-Refundable fee and will not be returned. This fee is due on the first day resident moves in. Rent is due on Friday evening or every Saturday morning before 10 am at the latest. Rent is $160.00 per week for shared rooms and $185.00 per week for single rooms. Getting behind on fees or rent is not acceptable. If you do not pay by 10am on Saturday, you must leave.
Wifi, washer and dryer are included. If you wash anyone else’s laundry or allow anyone who doesn’t live in the house to use the laundry machines, you will be asked to move out immediately.
Medication – All meds must be taken as prescribed. If you are found to be not taking or abusing them it will be considered a relapse. A printout must be accompanied by all prescriptions. Lock boxes will be used when necessary. Failures to divulge any medications taken are grounds for immediate removal. Drug testing can be done at any time at the discretion of the house manager. This house does not allow Benzos, Marijuana or Stimulants. Drug testing includes all. You will be removed immediately if tested positive.
Legal Matters – All legal matters must be presented to the house as soon as they occur (outstanding, pending cases, probation, etc.)
House Meeting – Mandatory attendance.
12 Step Meetings – A minimum of five signed meetings per week for the first 60 days and three meetings per week after the first 60 days. The house can increase minimum as it sees fit.
Disruptive Behavior – Any behavior the house sees as a negative influence to the residents well being or recovery is grounds for immediate removal.
Violence – There is ZERO tolerance for violence or threats of violence. Any threatening or intimidating behavior will be grounds for immediate removal.
Personal Property – We are not responsible for the loss or damage to your personal property. The taking of another person’s belongings is addict behavior. Ask for what you need. We are all here to help each other. At no time is any resident to enter another resident’s room without their permission.
Urine Testing – Everyone is subject to random urine testing at any time. Refusal of test is not acceptable. Anyone who chooses to leave the house before the test is done is considered to be positive. Anyone with a positive test will be immediately removed from the property. Anyone giving their clean urine to another house mate will be kicked out.
Curfew – First 30 days: Monday – Sunday 10 P.M. A resident with over 30 days: Sunday – Thursday 12:00, Friday and Saturday nights 2:00 A.M.
Chores – Chores will be assigned on a rotating basis. Chores are to be done by 5 PM Saturday and maintained daily. When you are assigned a chore, you must do your chore. If your bedroom is found to be a mess you must clean it. No food or drink containers left in a bedroom will be tolerated. Rooms must be clean before you go out.
Air Conditioners – There is an additional fee of $10.00 per week to have an air conditioner. Air conditioners must be turned off if you are not in the room. If you are out and your ac is left on there is an additional $10.00 fee. If you do this more than one time you will be on the verge of being asked to find another place to live. Please be responsible.
Rooms, TV’s and Stereos – NOTHING IS ALLOWED TO BE PUT OR HUNG ON WALLS. NO TACKS, TAPE, ADHESIVE, GLUE, NAILS OR STICKERS IN DOUBLE ROOMS. ONCE IN A SINGLE, SEE THE HOUSE MANAGER AND REQUESTS WILL BE CONSIDERED. We may need to move your bed or room to accommodate a special situation. We reserve the right to do so should we need to. If you are in a double, you may be moved to another double or if you are in a single you may be moved to another single.
Quiet Time – 10:00 P.M. – 8:00 A.M. weekdays. 11:30 P.M. – 10:00 A.M. weekends. Please be considerate to those who get up early. Everyone does not have to be silent, just considerate.
Safety – Please do not remove the smoke alarms. Please notify the house manager if a new battery is needed in a smoke alarm. The use of electric heaters is not permitted. Locking doorknobs and/or pad locks on the bedroom doors are not permitted.
Overnight Stays/Guests
You are not permitted to have overnight in or out stays. You are granted overnight stays and in-house guests as status increases. This is at the house manager’s discretion.
You are not allowed guests if you are behind on your rent or if your recovery administration fee has not been paid in full.
You will be held accountable for your guest. All guests must be accompanied by you while he or she is on the premises.
Dishonesty – About all house issues or lying by omission will not be tolerated.
Smoking – Smoking is not permitted in the house under any circumstances. Please smoke outside. All cigarette trash (butts) must be cleaned up. Please do not throw them on the ground in the driveway or yard.
Employment – Everyone is required to be employed unless they are disabled. If you are on disability or unemployment, you are encouraged to volunteer in the community. If you are not employed, it will be your full-time job to look for employment and go to work and meetings only until you are employed full-time.
Under Contract – When you are under contract there is zero tolerance. (Meaning, any behavior or action or violation of the contract will not be tolerated). Those under contract will be allowed only to go back forth to work and meetings ONLY. They will not be allowed guests other than children at the house.
The above are rules designed and implemented to enable you to transition into a clean and sober life. There are rules in everyday life that must be followed. We have all disregarded rules for far too long and know the consequences of not complying. Recovery 12 Solutions rules are not implemented as a punishment. They are normal day to day living guidelines that show courtesy and respect for yourself and housemates.
If you think the rules are not fair or think they are too hard to comply with, Recovery 12 Solutions may not be the right place for you. On the other hand if you would like to work together toward a new beginning please sign below your consent.
I , understand that recovery / sober living homes ARE NOT licensed to provide substance use disorder treatment services. Recovery / sober living homes are a place where unrelated adults recovering from a substance use disorder voluntarily choose to live together in a supportive environment during their recovery. www.ct.gov/dmhas/services to find mental and substance abuse treatment services.

**THIS AGREEMENT DOES NOT ESTABLISH RESIDENCY. YOU ARE A CLIENT/GUEST OF RECOVERY 12 SOLUTIONS. NON-PAYMENT, FAILED URINALISIS OR DISREGARD FOR ANY OF THE RULES LISTED ABOVE ARE GROUNDS FOR IMMEDIATE REMOVAL FROM THE PROPERTY AS YOU ARE NOT A RESIDENT OR TENANT. **
**IF YOU ARE REMOVED FROM THE HOUSE FOR RELAPSE OR ANY OTHER REASON, THERE WILL BE NO REFUND OF RENT. RENT REFUNDS ARE ONLY GIVEN WHEN CLIENTS LEAVE ON GOOD TERMS AND WITH 2 WEEKS NOTICE. **
